An event every week that begins at 9:00 am on Thursday, repeating until Thu, January 30th, 2020
This class is an opportunity to immerse yourself in the specific form of QiGong that is Tai Chi Chuan. Tai Chi is an ancient Chinese discipline of meditative movements initially formulated as a martial art, but now used by many as a system of exercise and a way to harmonize the body and mind. A regular practice of the sequenced flow of movements in a Tai Chi set has also been shown to have immense health benefits for a range of issues such as improving balance and preventing falls, improving memory, strengthening immune system function, reducing arthritis pain, alleviating depression, balancing blood sugar, lowering blood pressure and many more. Many people without physical health concerns find Tai Chi a useful practice for stress reduction or exploring the balancing yin and yang in themselves.
We will be beginning in January 2020 to learn a Sun style form designed by Master Paul Lam that is called “Tai Chi for Arthritis”. Please know that, despite its title, it is a form that can benefit much more than just arthritis. This form is accessible to beginners but also offers a depth to sink into that can be enjoyed by more advanced practitioners. FYI: Each week we will continue adding an additional movement to our sequence, so a beginner may find it easier to join January 9th than in February or March. We will, however, gladly welcome all experience levels throughout the class and I’m available to give private lessons to help you catch up if desired.
